What might a brow lift procedure do for me?

A brow lift smoothes the forehead, raises the eyebrows and minimizes frown lines. Those patients with drooping brows, horizontal forehead and frown lines that make one appear angry, sad or tired might benefit from this procedure.

How long do the results last?

A brow lift procedure will turn back the clock so you will always look better than if you had not had the procedure. Most patients only have one brow lift, however some patients do elect a second procedure usually at 10-15 years.

How long is the surgery?

The surgery takes about 1-1/2 to 2 hours.

Recovery after brow lift surgery:

You will experience mild discomfort for several days following surgery. You may have a loose dressing around your head for one day following surgery.

Will I have restrictions after the procedure?

You should avoid activities that cause bending or straining for 5 days. You should avoid strenuous activity for 2 weeks (walking and mild stretching are acceptable).

When will I be back to work after brow lift surgery?

You will be able to return to work in 1 week.

Where is the surgery performed?

Our physicians perform the majority of these procedures at Northwest Hospital, Northwest Tucson Surgery Center or  Oro Valley Hospital.

What type of anesthesia is used?

General anesthesia (asleep) is the choice of most patients although local with IV sedation may also be chosen.  Dr Hess and Dr Sandeen utilize board certified anesthesiologists.

Where will the scars be followig brow lift surgery?

The scars will be located long the top of the scalp or at the hairline in patients with a high forehead.

What are the risks?

Complications are infrequent and usually minor. The risks include infection, bleeding and scarring, as with all surgical procedures. Patients do experience numbness for several weeks to months following this procedure.
